Moving POS and QuickBooks Files to Your Virtual Machine

As you transition on to the PwrCloud for QuickBooks hosting system, you will need to move your QuickBooks files to the cloud. From this point forward your company file will live in the cloud and you’ll log in to work in your files.

First, make sure you are accessing the virtual machine from the local computer that currently houses your QuickBooks file(s). Open your File Explorer.

Under the Computer location, you will see a folder location for your local drive.

Click to open this drive. Browse to the location of your QuickBooks file and copy by right-clicking on the backup file and selecting Copy.

Point of Sale Files:

Open your virtual machine. Located on the Desktop of your virtual machine is a black folder called “QB POS Data File”. Open this location and paste to save your QuickBooks Point of Sale backup file.

QuickBooks Desktop Files:

Located on the Desktop of your virtual machine is a folder with a blue Q icon called “Quickbooks Files”. Open this location and paste to save your QuickBooks Desktop backup file.

As a best practice going forward, save all your files to your My Documents folder. You can create as many sub-folders as you need. This drive is always backed up.
